THE WYUEWISTERIAL ALLIANCE PRESENTS...
Good News!
This week’s guest writer is Rev. KL Draper,
pastor of First Baptist Church of Wylie and a
member of the Wylie Ministerial Alliance.
The truth about death
Richard Lederer composed a humorous article
on the history of the world made up of lines
from various student papers. History and
English teachers throughout the country collected the papers. Ann
Landers made him famous after she reprinted them in her column.
The following lines are highlights from that essay. "Jacob, son of Isaac,
stole his brother's birthmark.'' “Socrates was a famous Green teacher
who died from an overdose of wedlock ” “The Magna Carta provided that
no free man should be hanged twice for the same offense" “Gutenberg
invented the bible.” “John Milton wrote ‘Paradise Lost' then his wife
died and be wrote ‘Paradise Regained" “Abraham Lincoln's mother
died in infancy.” “Bach and Handel were famous composers. Handel was
half-German. half-Italian, and half-English." “Bach died from 1750 to
the present.” "Benjamin Franklin died in 1790 and is still dead."
These students' errors do at least reveal the truth about death. Like
Franklin and Bach, when we die we remain dead. Only Christ can resur-
rect us to a new life. Couple this with the true story of a letter returned to
the post office on which the recipient had written. "He’s dead." An over-
sight caused the same letter to be sent back to the original destination. It
was returned again with the additional remark. "He's still dead!"
We have just celebrated Resurrection Sundav. Christ arose from the dead
and lives forevermore! That is the Good News! Because He lives we can
also live through Him. Worship with fellow believers in one of our fine
churches this coming Lord’s Day. Experience the Good News!

Wylie Church of Christ
Welcomes Andrew Burns
as Their Gospel Preacher
Andrew Burns is the gospel preacher for the
Wylie Church of Christ that meets at 901 South
Ballard.
He is a recent graduate of the Brown Trail
School of Preaching in Bedford, Texas. He, as
well, will be graduating from Oklahoma
Christian University of Science and Arts in
April with a B.S. degree in Bible and an
Education Minor.
His dynamic and caring attitude is an asset
to the Wylie congregation and the community.
He has been pleased to work under the direc-
tion of Wylie’s former pastors: Thurman
Alexander, Billy Gee, John Seeley, and James Townsend. These four godly,
sound men are competent in leading Wylie to a spiritual foundation as God
intended His church to be.
He began his work here in January of this year. Since that time this con-
gregation has been blessed with growth from many visiting families who live
in Wylie and those who have moved in to the area. We hope that you will
desire to be a part of God’s people here in Wylie who want to labor the
Kingdom.
If you desire to hear the Truth preached from God’s Word in love
(Eph.4:15) and with conviction (Tit. 2:15) this is the practice of the Wylie
congregation. Andrew’s wife, Teri, as well, is a huge asset to his work and
has provided much help and support to this congregation.
We hope you will come by and visit the Lord’s church here in Wylie and
worship with us. If you are interested in a Bible study, we anticipate study-
ing and learning God’s Truths with you. We look forward to your visit.
